If you’ve never hired a criminal defense attorney before, you might be visiting our website out of curiosity. But it’s more likely that you need a seasoned attorney to represent you.

Knowing what an attorney brings to the table is a start. You want an experienced attorney with criminal defense know-how, legal knowledge and a great track record — someone who combines 29+ years as a prosecutor and defense lawyer. But because you’ll be trusting your attorney with your future, you also want to know what kind of person he is and what you can expect when working with him.

If we were sitting face-to-face, talking in my office, you’d probably ask me questions. So let me try to answer a few of those right here.

People Like to Know....

What is it like working with you?

The best people to answer that question are people who have worked with me previously. Take a look at some testimonials from former clients.

Does your experience match my needs?

If what you need is an attorney with extensive knowledge of criminal law, then yes. I have 29+ years of experience working with clients who have been charged with major and minor criminal offenses, including:

  • Drugs
  • DUIs
  • Violent Crimes
  • Non-Violent Crimes

Approximately how many cases have you handled?

I’ve handled tons of cases, which is just what you’d expect from someone with over 29 years of experience as a former prosecutor and as a criminal defense attorney. In addition, I served as the Deputy Solicitor in York, SC.

I’ve also been involved in a wide variety of high-profile cases, including death penalty cases and many murder cases. My most notable case was the 1993 Susan Smith case out of Union, SC, when I was the Deputy Solicitor for the 16th Judicial Circuit

Will you call me back?

Lack of communication is one of the biggest complaints clients have with regard to dealing with lawyers.

I understand that clients are anxious to know how their case is proceeding, so I do my best to respond as quickly as possible to the dozens of emails and phone calls I receive each day.

According to people who have worked with you, what are you a stickler for?

I’m often described as a perfectionist. I pay a lot of attention to details and spend time thinking through complicated issues. When I’m focused on a task, I leave no stone unturned. I put a lot of thought into my words and actions. I’m a stickler for preparation, which leads to getting the best possible results for my clients.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

Like anyone else, I try to unwind outside of work. I spend time with my wife and ctwo children. I enjoy swimming and reading during my free time.

What are your academics and achievements?

Here’s a quick look at my school and work history:

  • Carolina Scholar Award Winner from USC
  • Graduated USC Law, 1984
  • Public Defender, 1984-1986
  • House Ethics Committee in D.C., 1986 – 1988
